Kids Are Dying, Wes calls for the resignation of Wes Streeting

LONDON, 5 OCT 2025, 7:45pm— 6 young activists from Trans Kids Deserve Better (TKDB) plastered the front of the Department of Health and Social Care's London offices with A3 posters, calling for the resignation of Wes Streeting. This is a step up from their year-long campaign, "Kids Are Dying, Wes", where they left paper coffins outside of his office every day.

The activists applied large stickers to the main windows of the department carrying messages from the community such as, “How many of us have to die before you can look us in the eye and tell us you got it wrong?" in reference to the seemingly exponential increase in trans youth suicides following restrictions on trans healthcare. This question was also a call-back to the text on a coffin that two activists delivered right to Wes Streeting in person earlier this year.

One activist, who wished not to be named, expressed, "I know our suicide rate has increased because I have fucking seen it - I have seen it in the people I know and I have seen it in in my own thoughts. But Streeting values the voices of transphobic hate groups like Bayswater far above the people he's actually affecting—he's deaf to our struggle and our warnings."

In his time as health secretary, Wes Streeting has enacted a ban on puberty blockers, supported cuts to disability benefits, and endorsed the segregation of trans people through "third spaces"— his intentions cannot be clearer. In the words of one activist, "he has blood on his hands."
